Ethics-based Oral
History Education
Community Adult Education Projects
We work with communities to plan, design, and conduct oral history projects that illuminate their past and how their experience has shaped their development. Storytellers from the community can provide valuable insight into the community's social, ethical, and economic development and the major forces that shaped it.
We offer training in ethical oral history methodology and storytelling tools to classrooms, organizations, and communities across Chattanooga to advance social change. These customized projects and workshops use Southern Exposure's liberatory pedagogy to promote empathy, build relationships, and amplify community voices. Our ethics-driven oral history methodology has trained many human rights and dignity advocates, including writers, teachers, and theater professionals.
