UnMasking: Elders Speak
August 2023UNMASKING: Elders Speak is a creative writing and performance project where Peggy Douglas and David Cook created a workshop with twelve people who identify as elders on the art of crafting their stories into poetic monologues. Next, the actors were coached and directed by Anne Swedberg to perform the elders’ monologues onstage for the general public. Our goal is to allow the storytellers to connect deeply with those inside and outside their typical social group to reinforce the common bond of our humanness, which is fundamental to our cultural and social well-being.
